Rawr, the Emberling Oddity of Volcanforge

Deep within the feared and ever burning reaches of Volcanforge, where rivers of molten rock twist like living veins and even dragons hesitate to tread, a legend once began as a misunderstanding. At first, it was whispered that the Molten Wraith, a creature of living lava said to consume anything foolish enough to approach, had emerged from the volcanic depths. Villagers spoke in hushed tones of glowing shapes moving at the edges of the forge, of something small but, wrong. But the truth, as Dracoforge often reminds its people, is rarely what it first appears to be.

The First Sighting

The very first witness, a trembling assistant to a famed Dracoforge explorer named Bailey, claimed he saw a creature crawling from a cooled lava vent. It was cloaked in shadow and eyes far too large. He ran. Of course he did. Later, when the stories spread, they grew teeth and malice. The Molten Wraith had returned, they said.

What Rawr Actually Is

Now known simply, and fittingly, as Rawr. This creature has baffled scholars, dragonkin, and even the ancient Verdantforge bondwyrms. No one knows what species he belongs to. No egg has ever been found. No second creature has ever been seen. He is, as far as all records tell, The only one of his kind in all of Dracoforge.

Physical Traits

Small in stature, roughly the size of a young hatchling. Bright green leathery skin, completely unlike any Volcanforge creature Rounded features and oversized eyes, giving him an almost toy like appearance. Stubby arms and a low, waddling gait. Small dorsal spikes, dark as cooled obsidian A mouth full of tiny, ferocious looking teeth. Despite emerging from one of the most dangerous regions in Dracoforge, Rawr shows no signs of heat affinity, nor any resistance beyond what seems, accidental.

Personality

Rawr is, by all accounts incredibly sweet, painfully simple minded, endlessly curious and unintentionally troublesome. He has been observed following villagers at a distance, mimicking their movements. Sitting and staring at campfires for hours, as if trying to understand them. Attempting (and failing) to roar like a ferocious beast, resulting in a soft, squeaky “rawr”. He does not understand danger. He does not understand fear. He barely understands… anything.

Theories of Origin

Scholars across the Six Forges have proposed many theories. Volcanforge Mutation, exposure to unstable molten energies created a harmless anomaly? Verdantforge Drifter, creature from the ancient forests somehow displaced through unknown magic? Failed Dragon Hatchling, an incomplete or deformed dragon that developed differently? Something New Entirely, a species not yet understood? None have been proven.
